Giving back to the community that had a hand in raising him, Charles W. Smith established a Maine injury law firm in Saco in 1945.

However, while he stood at 6’4” tall, his integrity stood taller. His career and the firm flourished. He received international recognition winning a case in the United States Supreme Court. Today Smith Elliott Smith & Garmey has matured under the long and comforting shadow of Charlie Smith. It has blossomed from a one-man practice into a firm of 15 attorneys and 20-plus staff members. The firm currently occupies offices in both Portland and Saco, Maine, representing clients in Maine, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, New England and beyond.
